“The sculptures of Marina Dempster and the paintings of Tanya Fenkell harmonize material and conceptual preoccupations as interwoven as their enduring friendship. ‘Amend’ is a dynamic constellation of contemporary works celebrating possibility, renewal and vision, as well as the reimagining of place.
The word ‘amend’ implies change, and with it atonement, revision and re-creation. While a mend is a fix or a solution (often clearly visible but stronger than before), to make and accept amends is also an essential step towards the crossing of meaningful thresholds and the paving of liberating pathways.
‘Amend’ embodies the spirited perseverance of artistic practice and collaboration through disparate visions of change that both ground as and usher in new modes of being and belonging.”
